Winter Wonderland

Recent Developments

Well, as I said at the end of my last blog, I must write about the great opportunities that I have had of late. Last month at my work we had our semi-annual meeting with the CEO of the company about the recent developments, happenings and state of the bank. He also at that time mentioned that the external auditors were at head office. So afterwards I talked to him a little bit to find out who PFF's external auditors are. This inquiry of mine led to a great opportunity. From this I was referred to the CFO of the company and was able to sit down with him at the beginning of this month for over an hour and have a career talk. He gave me tons of great advice and insight into my career in accounting and it truly was a great experience. He was such a kind and great man and I was amazed how accommodating he was with his time for me (CFO's are extremely busy). I also took some initiative to get connections through him for an internship with the firm that audits PFF (which is KPMG) and if that doesn't work out then I'll get set up with something internally. Also from this experience I had a couple nice chats with Ken Kirtley and was able to receive some great career advice from him a couple times over the past little bit (not to mention the help he gave me a while back with interviewing). So advice and opportunity-wise I have been greatly blessed and I can't wait to see what happens with all of it. There is some other exciting developments for Amanda and I coming up in February but it isn't anything sure so I'll wait till something happens to post on that. Thanks for reading.

A Long Time Coming

Well, I know that it has been two months since I've posted so for those who keep checking back (ie. Nicole) I'm sorry for the delay. Life has changed in two months. I was really excited about the VITA thing that I posted on but it didn't come to fruition due to scheduling issues. This happened the weekend before school started up again so I had to change around my whole schedule last minute. Luckily, I had a great blessing that I was able to drop two of my previously scheduled classes and add 3 more classes. Now school has started and things are going great! though really busy. I go to school on Monday's from 12pm-10pm and on Wednesday's from 2pm-10pm (18 hours a week!! yikes!!) On top of that I am still working 26 hours a week and enjoying married life. I always try to make time for Amanda even though she often works late into the night and goes to school Monday/Wednesday mornings. So, that is what is going on currently in my life. I'll have to write next time about my recent career opportunities.
